The processional route

The Lord Mayor's Show The processional route

The Lord Mayor's Procession travels from Mansion House via St Pauls to the Royal Courts of Justice, where the new Lord Mayor swears allegiance to the Crown, and then returns directly from Temple to Mansion House.

Outward route

The outward leg of the procession sets off at 11am, led by the Band of the Royal Marines. It heads up Poultry towards St Paul's, travels around the southern side of the cathedral and then along Fleet Street to the Royal Courts. Behind the leading band the procession is over an hour long.

The State Coach is close to the back and as it passes Mansion House, the Lord Mayor will descend from the balcony and join the procession. The coach pauses at St Paul's for a few minutes while the Lord Mayor receives a blessing, then continues to the Royal Courts, where it will arrive at about 12.30. The biggest crowds are at Bank and St Paul's, but the whole of this leg is busy. It's worth getting here in good time.

Return route

The return leg of the procession sets off from Temple at 1.10pm. It travels along the Embankment past Blackfriars station and then up Queen Victoria Street to return the Lord Mayor to Mansion House. This leg is a little quieter but there are still big crowds on Queen Victoria Street and up towards Bank.

The head of the procession only takes half an hour to travel the route but wherever you stand, the procession will take over an hour to pass. The last floats will reach Mansion House just after 2.30.
